i vow to never irrationally keep you at home because of lack of trust. if you don’t lie to me, i’ll have no right to make assumptions. i’ll let you do whatever you please, within reason, whether it be hanging out with friends, spending time with a significant other, staying out late, etc. i won’t be that asian parent that doesn’t allow you to do anything; i’ll trust you enough to let you do things as long as you have some trust in me and can talk to me about anything. and i promise, i will never, under any circumstances, demean you in anyway; i’ll support your ambitions and future goals. i’ll congratulate you and compliment you on your achievements; i’ll be sure to be the best parent i can possibly be. i want you to have everything i didn’t when i was a kid.
